Progress is measured one success at a time

After the year we’ve had, we can use a reminder that not everything is lost when there continue to be women who speak up on behalf of those who cannot. There are still women who believe in equality despite our differences, in the freedom of choice, speech and movement, in the possibility to progress further as united human beings above all.

Here are some of the women who changed 2020 for the better. I’m sure there must be thousands, millions more out there that are fighting every day to create a safer, more unified and equal space for thriving, regardless…

Is it fear of failure or fear of success?

Distractions are fun! They make the time pass faster and give you a sense of calm in a world full of emotionally unavailable people, destruction and chaos. Ironically, distractions add to the chaos, but you know in a fun way.

I recently finished The Source by Dr. Tara Swart and it really got me thinking about my purpose, my progress and why I keep losing the motivation to stay on track with my goals.

Sometimes we fully dive into a life of routines and gradually abandon our pursuits. All of a sudden we start to believe that we are not…

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ― Paulo Coelho

I was fortunate enough to have grandparents that read me bedtime stories when I was a little kid. This love for books naturally stayed with me as I embraced adulthood. Well, the stories I read now might be different, but they often carry the same conclusions and solutions. Love, be kind, do good, forgive, be brave, and so on.

Books can…

  • help us understand who we are and what we want to achieve
  • make us better at things, like doing our chores or…

We are often missing the big cosmic picture

The pandemic is expected to have caused some serious implications on our mental health, whether we suffered with COVID-19 directly or not.

One of the key mental health problems due to the pandemic right now is all about changes in sleeping patterns or difficulty sleeping altogether. Others relate to increased consumption of addictive substances, like alcohol and cigarettes, and changes in eating habits. …

#9 Joe Biden became the 46th President of the US

As one of the most memorable years, 2020 will forever remain a year we try to avoid when we go back to the past for memories we want to cherish, discuss and relive. Due to its unprecedented rules, it will be hard to ever forget the lockdowns, the masks and the constant worries, so I’m sure most of us will be beyond glad it’s finally over.

We lost some amazing people — like Kobe Bryant, Chadwick Boseman and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. They will remain an inspiration to us even if we no longer share the same physical realm.

We acknowledged…

If you need a movie to realise it, it might already be too late.

When it comes to social media, lately I’ve relied more on observation than participation. I still see a lot of my friends posting mid-week selfies and videos of their weekend adventures, hooked onto the likes chain, but I simply can’t force myself to post any more.

I’m not sure exactly what happened to me, but every next picture on social media suddenly feels so pointless and devoid of meaning in the grand scheme of things.

Maybe it had something to do with the COVID-19 months we all experienced that put things into perspective.

Maybe it’s related to the socio-political systems…

And that’s what we’re getting this year

Halloween isn’t cancelled yet. It might just look different in 2020, but isn’t that the whole point of dressing up anyway?!

Hubie Dubois is Salem’s finest local loser, also known as the kindest hero in town (that is, if you ask his mother and Violet Valentine). He’s known for his fondness of Halloween — well, not so much the pranks and the scary stuff, but the safe preparations. So to spike things up on this year’s spookiest celebration, there’s a new neighbour in town and we hear noises coming from the house…

You need to be able to joke with…

New Zealand’s PM is a global inspiration today

Jacinda Ardern has served as the 40th prime minister of New Zealand since 2017. She just won her re-election following an ultra successful first term. A long list of accomplishments could be inserted here, but what truly matters is that Jacinda has the people’s vote — she has the people’s love.

There are many resilience lessons we can all learn from New Zealand’s PM, from being a terrific leader that delivers daily global inspiration to millions of people to excelling as a wife and mother. …

Mark Ruffalo shows another side of his acting career

Mark Ruffalo transformed into a twin role for HBO’s drama hit “I Know This Much Is True”. It’s the role that brought him an Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor.

What’s really fascinating about the show is how conscious it is about so many pressing issues: a gentle investigation into the human psyche delivered in a picturesque presentation over the course of six episodes.

The captivating storytelling is further enriched by truly mesmerizing cinematography of pure nostalgia for the days where we were a little bit more connected with each other — or at least trying to connect more…

We don’t need the devil to do his bidding

The Haunting of Bly Manor explores the concept of hell on earth, how we can entrap ourselves into a loop of our most sacred memories where we willingly lock ourselves, the key tucked away for good.

The Haunting of Bly Manor isn’t a horror show, but it is a show about the horrors of being alive, simply because… well, life’s not all fairy tale stuff. Even a moonflower only blooms once in its lifetime.

Like many other shows on Netflix, take for example Russian Doll or The Good Place, The Haunting of Bly Manor depicts yet another representation of hell…
